When your purchase your new vehicle at the dealership or car supermarket, you may well be offered ‘paint protection’, an extra coating that effectively seals the paintwork on the car, meaning that it won’t suffer from the light marks and fading that can damage untreated paintwork.
Dealership sales will be very keen to sell such treatments – indeed, there are numerous complaints online about salesmen being just that bit too keen – as they can earn them a tidy three-figure profit. However, are they worth having?
Well, on the one hand, there’s no doubt that they do their job, and compared to the overall price of the car, they’re pretty cheap; but, on the other, you should remember that modern sealants will only work correctly if applied properly to fully prepped car paintwork. Otherwise the sealant will only do a limited job.
Most dealership’s offer poor quality protection packages (Supaguard, Diamondbrite, Williams F1 and Gard X to name a few) that cost £400 upwards with bold claims that the protection will last for many years and no polishing required, which seems convenient but it simply doesn’t represent value for money. These packages are often applied incorrectly and over poor paint finishes as the dealership valeters are given minimal time and little training in how to prepare and protect your new car.
Ultimate Valet & Ultimate Detail typically takes 1-2 days to complete, ensuring your new car is immaculately clean and free from contaminants before carrying out a single stage machine polish to increase gloss levels and remove any fine swirl marks or imperfections ensuring the paintwork is perfect before protecting & sealing it.
Ultimate Valet / Ultimate Detail offer numerous paint protection coatings, which are all tried and tested, providing long lasting results. With so many products on the market, it is no wonder, that you the client is confused as to which product to have applied. I offer new car paint protection packages from Gtechniq, CQuartz, Opti-Coat Pro+ and others.
You may have also seen offers of Gtechniq at £199. Just check what you're actually receiving, as the valeting company or detailer will no doubt be using old stock, used several times and therefore a "weakened" product. All modern coatings, whether "nano, glass, or ceramic" should be used within days of opening. If in doubt, ask to see the products before commencement.
